PSAT/NMSQT® Preparation Course

Strategy Coaching

You will learn: how Preliminary SAT®/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test questions vary in difficulty; how to look for "traps"; when not to answer; what to leave blank; how to pace yourself throughout the exam; and, finally, how to discern the best answer through a process of elimination.

Diagnostic & Practice Testing

Study begins with a pre-test, an actual PSAT/NMSQT® examination.  Your strengths and weaknesses will be evaluated as an important first step in identifying areas for improvement.  PSAT/NMQST® post-tests, administered in the last class session, will be used as a final measure of gain.  Throughout the course, you will practice on timed PSAT/NMSQT® tests.

Small Classes

Our classes comprise four to 12 students, thus, allowing instructors to develop your hidden strengths and eliminate your weaknesses.

Expected Improvement

In the first class, we review the pre-test and introduce you to the test-taking techniques and strategies which we have developed in over twenty years of helping thousands of local students excel.  We also embark upon a study of the basic and advanced skills required for improving your performance on the test, drawing on the experience we have acquired in helping students just like you.  Subsequent classes reinforce this two-pronged approach by 1) assuring that you have understood the new techniques and can apply them to the test material; and 2) building and expanding on the knowledge and skills you already have for enhanced performance on the test.  Because of our emphasis on skill-building, what you learn in these classes can be applied to all of your course work, including any multiple-choice quiz or test.  Thus your investment can pay off long after you have taken the PSAT/NMSQT®.

Computer Use

Students in our PSAT/NMSQT® prep program have access to our computers and to test preparation software designed to reinforce their test-taking skills.  This software includes computer-based testing.

Cost for the PSAT/NMSQT® Preparation Course (32 Hours)                 $448     (plus $60 materials)

APC offers full-group instruction courses based on demand. In addition, our courses may be taken on a private, semi-private, or mini-group basis. (See Tutorial Instruction.)
