Conheça seu professor, Bonnie Dahnke

   [Bonnie Dahnke] Bonnie é a Coordenadora do Programa ESL. Ela também é uma das professoras mais populares de ESL do ILI desde 1991.

Bonnie nasceu e cresceu em Nebraska. Ela frequentou a University of Nebraska, onde ela se formou e mais tarde fez seu mestrado em Inglês.

"Na verdade eu não planejei ser uma professora de Inglês como Segunda Língua. Eu iniciei minha carreira de professora na University of Nebraska, lecionando composição. Então eu e meu marido nos mudamos para a Alemanha, e então eu tive algumas oportunidades de ensinar inglês para estudantes internacionais. Sou fascinada por palavras, significados, gramática e outras culturas, então o Inglês como Segunda Língua é perfeito para mim. Ele me proporciona todas essas coisas."

Quando lhe perguntaram se tinha uma estória predileta sobre o ensino, Bonnie não pode citar somente uma. "Tenho várias estórias maravilhosas sobre os alunos. O sucesso de cada um dos estudantes é a minha estória favorita. Eu adoro ouvir estórias de estudantes que continuaram na vida acadêmica ou que utilizaram as suas capacidades diretamente no trabalho quando voltam para casa. Muitos alunos continuam a manter o contato, mesmo bem depois que eles já terminaram seus estudos no ILI."

Embora existam várias escolas que ensinem o Inglês como Segunda Língua, porém Bonnie acha que a ILI é diferente. "Várias escolas tem um curriculum semelhante, mas a faculty e o staff do ILI são únicos. As pessoas que vêm para esta escola encontram uma atmosfera receptiva e de respeito ao indivíduo. Além disso, existem professores que lecionam nessa escola há bastante tempo -- 7, 10, 15 anos. Esse tipo de longevidade fala por si mesma."

Nossos alunos desejam que Bonnie continue a lecionar no ILI, por muito, muito tempo!
